Based on the facts of scientific researchers at the Far-Eastern higher technical schools the article reveals connections between the higher technical education and the regional economics. Late foundation of the local scientific institutions and concentration of main scientific and technical forces at the higher school resulted in its great role in the study of the natural resources, improvement of their extraction and processing, working out and introducing new technologies, and thus in the economical development of the region.
